2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

While any Mercedes-Benz car would be a delight to drive, between the 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, do you know which model you’d like better? With this comparison, we’re hoping to help Manchester, Bedford, and Nashua, New Hampshire, shoppers determine which luxury sedan could be their better fit.

At Mercedes-Benz of Manchester, we can guide you toward your dream Mercedes-Benz vehicle and show you every desirable feature.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class

1 Engine, 2 Engines

Although both the 2021 C-Class and the 2022 E-Class give you the same standard engine, the 2022 E-Class also has a larger engine.

For the 2021 C-Class, you’ll have the 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine that produces:

  • 255 horsepower
  • 273 lb-ft of torque
  • EPA-estimated 23 city/35 highway MPG*

The 2022 E-Class also has this standard engine, but it achieves an EPA-estimated 23 city/31 highway MPG.*

If you’re interested in the available engine for the 2022 E-Class, it’s a 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive. It produces the following:

  • 362 horsepower
  • 369 lb-ft of torque
  • EPA-estimated 23 city/30 highway MPG*

While you’ll have the same satisfying city gas mileage, not all highway stats look the same. If you use the highway often, your best bet would be to drive the 2021 C-Class.

Hands-Free Access But How Much in the Trunk?

Take advantage of heated and ventilated front seats in both sedans and feel comfortable. However, if you really want wraparound comfort, consider the 2022 E-Class, which offers:

  • Available heated front armrests
  • Available rapid heating for front seats
  • Available active multicontour front seats with massage controls

Unfortunately, these features are exclusive to the 2022 E-Class.

Both vehicles can comfortably seat up to five passengers with very similar stats as far as cabin dimensions go.

Dimensions (front/rear)

To access the trunk in either vehicle, HANDS-FREE ACCESS makes it convenient, especially when you’re weighed down with bags or even carrying a child.

Despite this similarity, the 2022 E-Class provides more room with 13.1 cubic feet of cargo space. The 2021 C-Class offers 12.6 cubic feet, which comes close but still is less.

Can You Communicate With Your Car?

Sitting in front of both dashboards, you may not notice the difference right away. Behind the wheel of each sedan, you’re granted a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, but moving to the middle, the screens change. The 2021 C-Class sports a 10.25-inch center screen, while the 2022 E-Class outfits your dash with a 12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia display.

In the 2022 E-Class, communicate directly with your car with these devices:

  • Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)
  • Voice Control with Natural Language Understanding
  • Available MBUX Interior Assistant

Some devices require a mix of touch, voice, and gestures to make things happen.

For each 2021 C-Class trim, your passengers can happily hook up to the 8-device in-car WiFi. While the 2022 E-Class also supplies this system, it’s optional.

Which Active Assist Do You Want?

If you’re familiar with the Mercedes-Benz lineup of safety and driver-assistance features, it’s no secret how comprehensive it is. Every area of your car can be guarded from unexpected hazards.

With both the 2021 C-Class and the 2022 E-Class, Active Brake Assist and ATTENTION ASSIST® come standard. They also provide the following systems:

  • Car-to-X Communication
  • Parking Damage Detector
  • Blind Spot Assist

But the 2021 C-Class adds Exit Warning Assist to the Blind Spot Assist, while the 2022 E-Class does not. Also, the first two systems listed come standard in the 2022 E-Class but are optional in its sibling.

While the 2021 C-Class offers available Active Speed Limit Assist, the 2022 E-Class provides the optional Active Stop-and-Go Assist.

Which Will It Be? 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class or the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class? You can find car nirvana in both. We hope this comparison has helped Manchester, Bedford, and Nashua, NH, drivers decide which one they prefer. For firsthand experience, test drive both models at Mercedes-Benz of Manchester.

* EPA-estimated fuel economy. Compare the estimated mpg to the estimated mpg of other vehicles. You may get different mileage depending on how fast you drive, weather conditions and trip length. Your actual highway mileage will probably be less than the highway estimate.
